being responsible

Being the responsible person I am, I ordered two HIV testing kits a week or so ago online.  One for now, one for a few months down the line.  Sure I could go hit a free clinic or something, but sometimes I just want to handle things on my own at home.

The package had arrived on Saturday, but I had a guest who just arrived in town to start college and was hanging out with us, so I just put it aside in my room to deal with later.

Sunday night rolls around and the package is still staring at me.  So I spent some time pacing my room and psyching myself up and then relaxed in the lazy boy in my room.

I slowly opened the Fedex package and found two small boxes.  Not was I was expecting, but it didn’t matter as long as it got the job done.

I examined the box and a sticker was on it with something along the lines of “Keep stored at 42F, contains blood samples.”  Umm, well not yet it doesn’t!  Had I made a mistake and bought one of those kits that you have to send back to a lab?  It’s fine, but I was hoping for a more rapid test.

I open the box, and it contained a few vials…  What the..??  Then I noticed the vial and a bright red bold + on it.

They friggin sent me HIV samples, not HIV testing kits!!

How messed up is that?!   That’s the last time I order kits from THAT medical supply company.  So not only did I psych myself up for a test I couldn’t take, I have vials of HIV sitting in my room.   greeeeat!

I think Malcolm is paranoid I’m going to pour some in his drinks.

  1. holy crap thats freaky!! Could they get in trouble for mailing it to you? Takes some pics! :)

  2. Eww, I’d think there would be more regulation on shipping biohazards. They wouldn’t even let me take my own wisdom teeth home with me, but they’ll ship you blood?

  3. Danny boy….Aug 26th and no new blogs?? WTF man! Your readers demand updates!
